International Baccalaureate Programmes

PYP – Primary Years Programme – Early Education/ Elementary School
IB-DP – Diploma Programme – High School
Different from the traditional content/centered teaching model, the programmes adopted by schools worldwide, prepare students for critical thinking. The methodology of the program guarantees that students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
IB programmes are adopted by international or overseas schools. Beit Yaacov is different from those due to its trilingual structure and the use of a Brazilian syllabus, which abides by the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN’s), national calendar year and legislation.
Primary Years Programme (PYP)
PYP is an interdisciplinary international education program created for students of ages 3 to 12. It fosters the wholesome growth of children by aiming for hearts and minds. This program proposes dealing with social, physical, emotional and cultural needs of students, besides the academic needs. PYP relies on research and best practices of a relevant teaching system that is interesting, challenging and coherent.
The goal of PYP is to enhance intentional international mindedness, environmental awareness and peaceful thinking.

IB – Diploma Programme
It’s a rigorous pre-university program for highly motivated student. IB-DP prepares students to stand out when attending university by providing them with differentiated experiences and methodologies. The International Baccalaureate is based on the premise that the globalized and interconnected world of the 21st century requires that all citizens are able to think critically, and an international awareness.
Students of the Diploma Programme learn to operate within this mind-set, while developing skills, which will be fundamental towards incentivizing their role in the contemporary world: critical thinking, personal organization, studying skills, interest in research, knowledge and the ability to see beyond their reality, among others.
The Diploma Programme teaches students to learn and deploy their knowledge in a critical and responsible thinking. One example is the discipline CAS (Creativity, Action, Service), which shows students how to deploy skills acquired in class (maths, languages, etc.) towards creating and participating in social assistance programs.
Tal Am
Tal Am is a Canadian program that promotes immersion in the Hebrew language and the passing on of Judaism, the Torah and chagim. The program delivers a variety of resources and materials that allow for dynamic classes – music, history, handouts, posters, games and many other activities. A diversity of characters is introduced to students who identify with and learn.
Best Yaacov was the first school in Brazil to adopt the program. Hebrew acquisition starts in grade G1, with the help of Tal Am. Fluency in the language is stimulated through immersion classes, taught entirely in Hebrew.
